Greenon hasn't had much luck against Fairbanks recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Greenon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Greenon needed a bit of extra time to put away Triad. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Cardinals. The victory was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Danielle Henderson spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Haley Ivon and Peyton Walker did most of the damage at the plate: Ivon went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Walker went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Ivon has posted since back in March of 2024. Kylie Birt was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Fairbanks made easy work of Southeastern Local on Friday and carried off a 7-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Fairbanks also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Macy Kise gave up only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Kise has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Elizabeth Gregory was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Claire Meihls, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Fairbanks and bumps their season record up to 17-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Greenon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Greenon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fairbanks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Greenon suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Fairbanks in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
