After losing to the Mullen Broncos the last time they met, the Sandhills Valley Mavericks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Sandhills Valley had just enough and edged Mullen out 35-33. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sandhills Valley.
Sandhills Valley's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braden Powell, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyton Connell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Sandhills Valley now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mullen, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Sandhills Valley on the road again on Thursday and play against South Loup at 4:30 p.m. on January 25th. South Loup presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sandhills Valley in Nebraska (South Loup is ranked 63rd, while Sandhills Valley is ranked 202nd). As for Mullen, they will head out on the road to square off against Hershey on Tuesday.
