The Potosi Trojans will venture away from home to take on the St. Clair Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Potosi knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully St. Clair likes a good challenge.
Potosi gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over South Iron. With that victory, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Landon Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ayden Ricketts, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lane Revelle, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Potosi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, St. Clair fell victim to Washington and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bluejays. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.
St. Clair also got a good showing from Kaden Calhoun, who pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits.
At the plate, St. Clair saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Short, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Potosi now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Clair, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
