When it comes to explaining why Fishburne Military lost, one person who can't be blamed is Allyn Koger. Despite the final result, he scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Blue Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shanon Simango out in front who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. Darius Stafford was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Fishburne Military and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Blue Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Fishburne Military will head out on the road to face off against Western Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Blue Ridge, they will take on Greenfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Blue Ridge likes a good challenge.
