Fairview is 1-9 against Fossil Ridge since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fairview Knights on the road again and play against the Fossil Ridge SaberCats at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Fairview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
Fairview struggled with assists on Wednesday (Poudre had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fairview lost to Poudre on the road by a decisive 58-41 margin. Fairview has not had much luck with Poudre recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Remy Tolar, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bella Chang, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Prairie View on the road to the tune of 66-30. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fossil Ridge.
Fossil Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren Smith, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Lin, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Fairview has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Fairview ended up a good deal behind Fossil Ridge when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 54-35. Can Fairview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
