Oasis Christian is 0-8 against Life Christian Academy since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Oasis Christian Lions will take on the Life Christian Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Oasis Christian's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Ridgeview Global Studies Academy 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Oasis Christian has posted yet this season.
Oasis Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Evangelisto led the charge by scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Durden, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Life Christian Academy was handed a 55-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Specially Fit Academy on Thursday. Life Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 victory over Specially Fit Academy. The win was all the more spectacular given Life Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while Specially Fit Academy is ranked 230th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Life Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dan Morales, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Dinzey, who scored 15 points.
Oasis Christian's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. Life Christian Academy's record now sits at 2-14.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Oasis Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 30.5% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Life Christian Academy, though, as they've only made 3.13% of their threes per game this season. Given Oasis Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Life Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Oasis Christian might still be hurting after the 76-52 defeat they got from Life Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Thankfully for Oasis Christian, Angel Piementel (who dropped a double-double on 42 points and 16 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
