The Greenwood Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Greenville Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenwood is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Greenwood suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. Their rough 62-41 loss to Westside might stick with them for a while. Greenwood has struggled against Westside recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cj Terrell, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Jeremiah Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Greenville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They really took it to Pickens for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-37 victory at home. Greenville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.
Greenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Greenville, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Greenwood came up short against Greenville in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 54-48. Can Greenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
