The Centennial Patriots will challenge the Mountain View Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Rocky Mountain, who was ranked 19th at the time (Centennial was ranked 13th). Centennial came out on top against Rocky Mountain by a score of 77-68 on Wednesday.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabe Eddins led the charge by going 10 of 16 en route to 24 points along with six assists and five boards. Eddins' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chase Tibbets, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds.
Eddins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Centennial was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mountain View posted their closest victory since January 16, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ridgevue, sneaking past 69-67. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.
Mountain View's win came from a few key players Centennial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landon Starnes, who posted 16 points. Cooper Patterson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.
Mountain View's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Centennial has been crazy accurate this season, having drained 48.9% of their field goals per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've made 60% of their shots this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Centennial didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mountain View when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 73-68 win. Does Centennial have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
