The Heritage Mountaineers will venture away from home to square off against the Roane County Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Heritage barely beat South-Doyle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mountaineers never let the Cherokees get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Monday. The Mountaineers haven't had any issues with the Cherokees recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Katelyn Russell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since April 4th. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Brooke Perrin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Carly Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South-Doyle only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, Roane County earned a 4-1 win over Tellico Plains on Monday.
Like Heritage, Roane County also got a great game from a two-way player: Sailor Presley. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Presley has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Presley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Branham, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Heritage's record now sits at 21-8. As for Roane County, their record is now 13-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Heritage hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Roane County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
