They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Minor Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shelby County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Minor is ranked 61st).
Last Monday, Shelby County was beaten by Childersburg 72-27. Shelby County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-10.
Meanwhile, Minor humbled Center Point with a 69-41 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Minor.
Minor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Grice led the charge by scoring 16 points. Carmelo Burroughs was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Shelby County has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Minor, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
