With a playoff game on the line, the Denair Coyotes rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 2-1. Given Denair's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 537th, while Woodland Christian is ranked 1117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Denair has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6-2 record this season. As for Woodland Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Denair will take on Millennium at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denair's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Woodland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
