Irondequoit is 0-3 against Victor since May of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Irondequoit has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Irondequoit is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Hilton, falling 18-5.
Abby Ras made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ella Cooley, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Victor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Brighton 4-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Audrey Steinorth and Ryleigh Fontana did most of the damage at the plate: Steinorth went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Fontana went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Fontana has posted since back in April.
Victor hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive contests.
Victor's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Irondequoit, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Irondequoit hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Victor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Irondequoit might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Victor in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
