Delta Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Robert Frazier of Elk Grove ran for the longest rushing play in Delta Valley this season against Nevada Union last week. Frazier scampered for 76 yards on the play and finished with 292 on the day as his team beat the Miners.
Monterey Trail moved up to 388 from 500 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs were able to make the jump by beating Rodriguez 12-7.
Denzel Johnson was the best wideout in the league this week as Laguna Creek fell to Sheldon. Johnson racked up five receptions for 110 yards. Deshun William II helped Laguna Creek's passing attack out by catching two balls for 27 yards.
Ben Hartman made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cardinals lost to the Huskies. The 5-foot-11 junior recorded one fumble.
Isaiah Rios put up the best numbers through the air as Grant bested Del Oro. He finished with a total of 12 completions for 161 yards and one touchdown. Rios' favorite target this week was Darrion Jeffery , who caught four passes for 82 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Rios of the Pacers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 856. He has also thrown three touchdowns. On the ground, Elk Grove's Frazier has rushed for 815 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Johnson. The Laguna Creek star has 14 catches for 311 yards.
Franklin extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jesuit, 28-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
