4A District 3 recap October 8, 2013
Centennial was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Hatch Valley. The Hawks came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Deming extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 3 this week by beating Silver, 35-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Santa Teresa's dynamic duo of Brady Dunn and Ben Orozco proved tough for Cathedral to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dunn threw for 138 yards and 1 touchdown and Orozco had 65 yards receiving. Saul Rodriguez helped Santa Teresa's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 26 yards.
Ismail Garrett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Deming beat the Fighting Colts. Garrett's favorite target this week was Jerome Sandoval, who caught 4 passes for 58 yards.
Deming's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. David Padron has thrown for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Sandoval has 14 catches for 295 yards.
Centennial took down the Bears 49-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
