Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for St. John's

St. John never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Jackson-Reed Tigers 17-0. With that win, the Cadets brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Cameran Corbett, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Corbett is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Devyn Johnson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

St. John's hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson-Reed struck out eight times.

The victory was the third in a row for St. John's, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Jackson-Reed, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-4.

Coming up, St. John's will square off against Bishop Ireton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jackson-Reed, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cardozo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jackson-Reed has given up an average of 17.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
