It was a good run, but Southside unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 45-34 to the McCollum Cowboys. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-62 back in November of 2024.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was McKayla Flores, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Flores has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Gabryela Galvan was another key player, putting up eight points.

Southside's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-6. As for McCollum, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Southside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-31 win against Southwest on the 14th. As for McCollum, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-54 victory against South San Antonio on the 14th.
