Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Etowah Blue Devils, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 56-0 loss at the hands of West Morgan on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Etowah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while West Morgan is ranked 49th).
It was another big night for Jalen Fletcher, who picked up 181 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Fletcher has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played. Braxton Peters was another key contributor, throwing for 245 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Etowah are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for West Morgan, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Etowah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Morgan will square off against Corner at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Corner is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
