Baseball Game Preview: Williamsport Millionaires vs. Liberty Hurricanes

The Williamsport Millionaires are taking a road trip to face off against the Liberty Hurricanes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Williamsport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Williamsport was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Athens, sneaking past 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Millionaires considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Camden March, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Gio White, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Williamsport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Liberty suffered their biggest loss since April 7, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Nazareth Area, falling 7-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Hurricanes were not able to get on the board.

Williamsport has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Liberty, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-2 record.

Williamsport couldn't quite get it done against Liberty in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can the Millionaires avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
