Basketball Recap: First Baptist Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Isaac Wynja and Caleb Lindsay

First Baptist lost against South Metro HomeSchool back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The First Baptist Crusaders fell 71-64 to the South Metro HomeSchool Huskies. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (55), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

First Baptist's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Lindsay, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points, and Isaac Wynja, who went 6 for 10 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Wynja a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Brody Jaeger, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, First Baptist was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

First Baptist dropped their record down to 9-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for South Metro HomeSchool, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Baptist will challenge Fourth Baptist Christian at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for South Metro HomeSchool, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prior Lake Christian at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
