Rowland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Wilson Wildcats 41-10. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 36-22 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Bryce Johnson and CJ Carrillo. Johnson rushed for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries while Carrillo rushed for 143 yards and one score on only six carries. Carrillo also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Rowland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilson only rushed for 159 rushing yards.
Rowland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aidan Opatkiewicz and Carrillo. Frankie Trujillo was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Wilson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Rowland has already played their next contest, a 42-6 victory against Valencia on the 5th. As for Wilson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 50-19 loss against Bell Gardens on the 5th.
