Softball Recap: Leonardtown Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Leonardtown waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Westlake Wolverines get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Leonardtown got a massive performance out of Kendall Wathen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave Wathen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Ashleman, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs.

Leonardtown pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Leonardtown will take on rival Chopticon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 0.9, the Braves 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Westlake is set to challenge their familiar foe Thomas Stone on Friday.
