Ames had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Waterloo East Trojans with a sharp 9-1 win. The Little Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ames' victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Waterloo East, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-27.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ames will venture away from home to square off against Fort Dodge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
