Bruce had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 9-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Shannon Red Raiders by a score of 12-11. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Raiders earlier this season, when they won 18-8.
Ande Ferguson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Ferguson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Mary Kakales was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Sadie Box was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
As for Shannon, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since February 25, 2025.
Like Bruce, Shannon also got a great game from a two-way player: Ann-Michael Eisenzimmer. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Eisenzimmer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaitlynn Davis was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Airyonna Loden, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Bruce will head out on the road to take on Houlka at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.2 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Shannon, they will be playing at home against Itawamba Agricultural at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
