Continental has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Montpelier Locomotives at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Continental comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Continental had to suffer through a rough 50-14 loss at the hands of Wayne Trace. Continental has not had much luck with Wayne Trace recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Continental had strong showings from Olivia Crossgrove, who dropped a double-double on 14 rebounds and ten blocks, and Morgan Shock, who scored three points. Crossgrove has been hot recently, having posted five or more blocks the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, Montpelier can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They blew past North Central, posting a 49-16 win at home. Given Montpelier's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while North Central is ranked 776th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Continental's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-19. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.1 points per game. As for Montpelier, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
