The Live Oak Classical Falcons will take on Texas Wind in a tournament on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Texas Wind will be up against a hot Live Oak Classical team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Falcons simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat First Baptist 63-23. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Saints are ranked 607th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Live Oak Classical got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Stella Sriram out in front who went 7-for-15 to rack up 20 points and four steals. Sriram has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Pahmiyer, who posted 12 points and seven steals.
Live Oak Classical was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Baptist only racked up four.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Texas Wind over Heritage Christian Athletics in every quarter on their way to victory last Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Texas Wind blew Heritage Christian Athletics out of the water with a 49-15 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Texas Wind had established a 32-point advantage.
Live Oak Classical better keep an eye on Jai Johnson. She was instrumental in Texas Wind's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Texas Wind's points. Rosie Mendoza was another key player, shooting 71% from the field on her way to 13 points.
Live Oak Classical's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Texas Wind, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 10-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Live Oak Classical has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Texas Wind struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Live Oak Classical strolled past Texas Wind in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 39-22. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do Texas Wind have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
