Basketball Recap: Purvis Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Breleigh Adkins and Noa Bolar

Purvis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Richton Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Rebels are ranked 97th).

Purvis' loss came despite strong showings from Noa Bolar and Breleigh Adkins. Bolar posted 13 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards, while Adkins had ten points and seven rebounds. That's the most steals Bolar has posted since back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rakhiya Moody, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Moody has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dherria Barlow, who put up 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Purvis' record now sits at 2-5. As for Richton, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Purvis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-48 defeat against Columbia on the 10th. As for Richton, they will host Sumrall at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. Richton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Sumrall likes a good challenge.
