It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Penelope Wolverines ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Milford with a 57-52 win. Winning may never get old, but Penelope sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Leading Penelope to victory were Dylan Lednicky and Jayden Schwarz. Lednicky scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, while Schwarz dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Schwarz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Milford lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Corey Serrata, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Serrata has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Swish Washington II was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Penelope's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for Milford, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5.
Penelope will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1564th, while the Wolverines are ranked 700th). As for Milford, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
