After a string of three wins, the Hernando Christian Academy Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of St. John Lutheran by a score of 36-33. Hernando Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. John Lutheran apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
When it comes to explaining why Hernando Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Hendricks. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with three steals. Hendricks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Briauna Richardson, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Leading St. John Lutheran to victory were Arisa Ford and Gracie Sue Rice. Ford dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, while Rice scored 21 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Rice also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Audrey Goodson was another key contributor, scoring no points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Hernando Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1. As for St. John Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
