Basketball Recap: Cam Kelley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Turlock Christian over Elliot Christian

If Turlock Christian was riding high fresh off their 74-43 takedown of Elliot Christian last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Turlock Christian Eagles took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elliot Christian Eagles on Wednesday. Turlock Christian was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Elliot Christian earlier this season, when they won 74-43.

Turlock Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cam Kelley, who posted 13 points and three steals. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Nydam, who had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Turlock Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Leading Elliot Christian to victory were Jeremy Nielsen and Kaden Kirby. Nielsen put up 21 points, while Kirby dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 boards. The dominant performance also gave Kirby a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was James Lappe, who posted 12 points.

Turlock Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Elliot Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.

Turlock Christian will challenge Stockton Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elliot Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Don Pedro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
