The Dakota Ridge Eagles struggled with assists on Friday (the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dakota Ridge was dealt a 83-53 loss at the hands of Mountain Vista. Dakota Ridge has not had much luck with Mountain Vista recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Dakota Ridge still got an impressive performance from Ethan Berninger, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Berninger has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Bantock, who scored seven points.
It was another big night for Cal Baskind, who scored 19 points along with four steals for Mountain Vista. Baskind hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Jacob Hoefs was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.
Dakota Ridge's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6. As for Mountain Vista, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Dakota Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pomona at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Dakota Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Mountain Vista, they will head out on the road to square off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mountain Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
