The Carolina W Wildcats are on the road again on Thursday and play against the South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Carolina W is ranked 13th, while South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind is ranked 22nd).
Carolina W put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Copper Basin on the road to the tune of 58-26. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Carolina W just coasted through the last quarter.
Carolina W found their leader in underclassman Jericus Mackey, who rushed for 277 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 17.3 yards per carry. Mackey's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Barnett , who rushed for 41 yards and three touchdowns.
Carolina W's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Titus Hendricks and Xzavion Howard who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind fell victim to New Hope Leadership Academy's stalwart defense two weeks ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 28-0 loss at the hands of the Gladiators. South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carolina W's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind's loss dropped theirs to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Carolina W against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind when the teams last played back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 54-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carolina W since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
