Ore City is 2-7 against Overton since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rebels will host the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Harleton hit Ore City with a seven-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 12-11.
Madalyn Chambers put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Brooke Byrd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylieann Humphrey, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Overton got the win against Waskom on Friday by a conclusive 19-6. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Like Ore City, Overton also got a great game from a two-way player: Kelsey Vaught. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Vaught was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryleigh Nelson, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, six RBI, and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Annalise Perkins was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Overton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Overton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Ore City, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ore City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Overton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ore City might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Overton in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
