It was a good run, but The Currituck County Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 49-35 bruising from Northeastern. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the defeat, Currituck County had strong showings from Devin Duke, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Damon Duke, who picked up 193 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Tyselle Spencer had an outrageously good game for Northeastern as he rushed for 280 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per carry. Spencer is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devaughan Bell, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown.
Currituck County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Northeastern, their win was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Currituck County will square off against First Flight at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. First Flight will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Currituck County is ranked 137th). As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Pasquotank County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
