Softball Recap: Daphne Makes It Five in a Row at Home

While Daphne put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Baldwin County. The Trojans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Victoria Moten made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 15 contests.

In other batting news, Daphne got a big performance out of Hannah Newport, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Karsyn Barnett, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Daphne's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Baldwin County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Daphne will host Fairhope at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Baldwin County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McCracken County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
