Basketball Recap: First Assembly Christian Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

First Assembly Christian entered their game against Glen Iris Baptist on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The First Assembly Christian Lions came up short against the Glen Iris Baptist Swordsmen, falling 42-17. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-19 back in November of 2024.

Glen Iris Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanie Saruse led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Rebekah Everett was another key player, scoring nine points and four steals.

First Assembly Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4. As for Glen Iris Baptist, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

First Assembly Christian will head out to challenge Mt. Pleasant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant Christian will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something First Assembly Christian surely won't give up without a fight. Glen Iris Baptist has already played their next matchup (against Trinity Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
