Damone Darmond was the offensive standout of the game as he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kris Smith, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Benedictine's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for John Hay, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benedictine will take on Trinity at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for John Hay, John Hay and Cleveland Central Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
