Given Crosby-Ironton's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moose Lake/Willow River is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Crosby-Ironton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.
Moose Lake/Willow River was able to grind out a solid win over the Rangers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 69-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moose Lake/Willow River since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
