Moose Lake/Willow River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully the Rangers like a good challenge.
Barnum typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Moose Lake/Willow River proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 75-63 victory over the Bombers. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Crosby-Ironton stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Staples-Motley 70-50. Given Crosby-Ironton's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moose Lake/Willow River is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Crosby-Ironton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.
Moose Lake/Willow River was able to grind out a solid win over the Rangers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 69-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moose Lake/Willow River since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
