The Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pensacola Christian Academy is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since February 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Christian, sneaking past 6-5. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Pensacola Christian Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Gettle, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another was Wyatt Keever, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rocky Bayou Christian made easy work of Ponce De Leon on Tuesday and carried off a 10-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Colt Stevens made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Rocky Bayou Christian's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-0-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Stevens was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Trand Scott and Henry Baltz did most of the damage at the plate: Scott scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Baltz scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most hits Scott has posted since back in February. Kaine Stine was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Rocky Bayou Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Rocky Bayou Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pensacola Christian Academy, their record is now 3-8.
Pensacola Christian Academy couldn't quite get it done against Rocky Bayou Christian when the teams last played back in February as they fell 5-2. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
