St. Monica hasn't had much luck against Bishop Montgomery recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
St. Monica had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Mary Star of the Sea last Tuesday. The Mariners put the hurt on the Stars with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Mariners have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella Urbina made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, St. Monica let Katrina Olmedo and Milena Valdez run wild. Olmedo went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Valdez went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
St. Monica kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Bishop Montgomery posted their closest win since April 24, 2024 last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary 5-3.
Macey Kim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Bishop Montgomery got a big performance out of Abigail Green, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Bailey Solheim was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Bishop Montgomery pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. Monica, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. St. Monica hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bishop Montgomery struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
St. Monica suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Bishop Montgomery in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Mariners have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
