Baseball Recap: Xavier Prep Starts Season with Victory at Home

Xavier Prep took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They never let the San Jacinto Valley Academy Wolves get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Saints have posted since March 21, 2024.

Elijah Castro and Kainoa Luna made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Castro tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Luna didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Castro a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Castro scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Luna scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Hyun Jun Kim was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Vincent Scarborough, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Xavier Prep has already played their next match, a 14-0 win against Santa Rosa Academy on the 22nd. As for San Jacinto Valley Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against Perris on the 20th.
