Holy Names Academy suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Bellevue by a score of 56-53. Holy Names Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bellevue apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Bellevue found their leader in underclassman Syesha Simanton, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Simanton has scored at least a third of Bellevue's points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Dex, who scored nine points.
Holy Names Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Bellevue, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Holy Names Academy will head out on the road to challenge Lakeside at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Lakeside's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home while Holy Names Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Bellevue will take on Lake Washington at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Washington will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
