The Colton-Pierrepont Colts will face off against the St. Lawrence Central Larries at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Colton-Pierrepont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
While Colton-Pierrepont didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Colton-Pierrepont had a senior duo take command as Ty Farns almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards and Joey Fisher made all 5 shots he took for 10 points and eight boards. Those eight rebounds gave Fisher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin Thomas, who posted eight points.
Colton-Pierrepont was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, St. Lawrence Central's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Monday. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chateaugay. The loss put an end to the Larries' undefeated start to the season.
Colton-Pierrepont will need focus on slowing down Ayden Beach, one of several St. Lawrence Central players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 35.6% of St. Lawrence Central's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Damien Ashley, who had 12 points and six assists.
Having lost for the first time this season, St. Lawrence Central fell to 7-1. As for Colton-Pierrepont, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Colton-Pierrepont has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like St. Lawrence Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
