The Community Leadership Academy Lions's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 60-49 victory over North Florida Christian. This was payback for Community Leadership Academy, who suffered a 67-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Community Leadership Academy to victory were Bowman Holloway and Owen Brown. Holloway dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Brown scored 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Community Leadership Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Paniucki, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the defeat, North Florida Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jace Riggan scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. Riggan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zeke Ackerman, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Community Leadership Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for North Florida Christian, they dropped their record down to 10-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Jefferson County the next time they take the court. North Florida Christian will head out to face Jefferson County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Community Leadership Academy will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
