It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Rancho Bernardo Broncos can now relate to. They took a serious blow against La Jolla on Friday, falling 42-14. Rancho Bernardo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as La Jolla apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September.
Despite the loss, Rancho Bernardo saw an underclassman step up: Hugo Gonzalez rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown. Gonzalez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run.
Jackson Diehl was his usual excellent self, rushing for 131 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Diehl hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Aidan Mcgill was another key contributor, rushing for 148 yards.
La Jolla's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Sawyer Moseley and his two sacks.
Rancho Bernardo's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for La Jolla, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Rancho Bernardo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. La Jolla will face off against Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on November 25th. Del Norte is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
