Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Northwest Area

Northwest Area had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Bucktail Bucks 11-1. For the Rangers, this counts as revenge for the 8-4 win the Bucks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jenna Robaczewski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Ruckle was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Abygail Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

Northwest Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Northwest Area pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bucktail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Area will welcome Dallas at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rangers 1.5, the Mountaineers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bucktail, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lewisburg at 4:30 p.m. The Bucks are facing the Green Dragons at the right time seeing as the Green Dragons are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
