The King Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Hillsborough by a score of 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
King's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jabriel Hakim, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Hakim scored a full 28.8% of King's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreas Jackson, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
King's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Hillsborough, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
King will face off against Wesley Chapel at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hillsborough will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chamberlain at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th.
