On Friday Ridgeland/Hardeeville take on Battery Creek at 7:30 PM. Ridgeland/Hardeeville are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the matchup prepared for a fight.
Things haven't been easy for Ridgeland/Hardeeville, and their game last Friday only extended their streak of losses to four. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 7-41 punch to the gut against May River last Friday. Ridgeland/Hardeeville got a solid performance out of senior Jertaveon Smalls, who picked up 74 yards on the ground and accumulated 221 passing yards; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. Smalls has been a consistent playmaker for Ridgeland/Hardeeville as this was the 4th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, Battery Creek have had to suffer through a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Lake Marion as they made off with a 41-20 victory. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (35) and coasted on those for the victory.
Battery Creek's win lifted them to 1-6 while Ridgeland/Hardeeville's defeat dropped them down to 2-4. We'll see if Battery Creek's success rolls on or if Ridgeland/Hardeeville are able to steal their positive momentum.
