Baseball Recap: Crete-Monee Has No Trouble Against Rich Township

Crete-Monee won the last time they faced Rich Township and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warriors blew past the Raptors 15-1. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by seven runs or more this season.

Dylan Dee spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bren Milburn, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kijuan Springfield, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI and one triple.

Crete-Monee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Crete-Monee and bumps their season record up to 18-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Rich Township, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-14.

As for Rich Township, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Joliet Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raptors will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Steelmen will have lost 22 straight heading into Friday's contest.
