The St. John Paul II Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Madison County Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Wednesday, St. John Paul II came up short against Florida State University High School and fell 10-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Seminoles: they've now lost five in a row.

AMANDA THOMPSON was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, JALIYA CONYERS made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was SHAVON STEWART, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Madison County waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 12-2 victory.
Like St. John Paul II, Madison County also got a great game from a two-way player: Alden Bass. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Bass was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison County let Erin Burnett and Anna-Kayte Smith run wild. Burnett went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Smith went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Burnett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Wesley, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.
Madison County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for St. John Paul II, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
St. John Paul II suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Madison County when the teams last played back in February. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
