The Douglass Astros's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Sandy Creek 57-51. While losing is never fun, Douglass can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Patriots are ranked fourth).
Loss or not, Douglass got some senior leadership from Zaqir Roberts and Noah Treadwell. Roberts scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Treadwell. scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Roberts has scored all season. Rj Winegarner was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Douglass has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Sandy Creek, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.
Douglass will head out on the road to take on the Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandy Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
